왜, manufacturing contributes $45 billion to gross state product, accounts for $13 billion of the Commonwealth’s goods exports to the global economy, and employs more than 247,000 of Virginia's private workers at nearly 7,000 establishments; and

왜, the average annual compensation for a manufacturing job is almost $75,000; and

왜, manufacturers’ bold response to our Commonwealth’s critical infrastructure needs remains essential to our future safety and security; and

왜, manufacturers are labor-intensive, technology-intensive, energy-intensive, and depend upon economical costs to successfully compete against global and domestic manufacturers; and
